Rion Stuckey a.k.a. "Young Tex" or "The Snap King" is an up and coming artist on the Clever Elements roster. He has spent a majority of his life growing up in Dallas, Texas. It was here where he first fell in love with music. He started off like most true musicians do; in his elementary school band, under the guidance of La'Ron Wilson. For, in his earlier years, he had been fond of music yet he did not understand it. It was years he had spent playing on the same piano his mother had grown up playing, imitating and recreating the songs he had heard being played on the radio. In spite of the missing keys the piano lost over the years, he was still able to mimic an entire song, tune for tune, note for note, all without being knowledgeable of the notes he played. He later joined the band under La'Ron Wilson to gain his knowledge of music. It was there that Tex learned of Jazz & Swing style music and further started composing his own music, just as his band director did. He spent many years without his father's presence and took to the streets. His mother raised both he and his younger brother and Tex ran the streets with many older influences, getting in and out of trouble. He was smart enough to see corruption from the start and with the help of his mother's teachings, he stayed out of real danger. His "Uncle D" had helped start the spark for hip-hop in Tex. He had spent time with both Tex and his younger brother by picking them up to play basketball on the weekends. It was during the commute time to and from the different gyms that his "Uncle D" would put on a cd and tell Tex to freestyle to the beats. His uncle was the first to tell Tex that he had an uncanny ability to rhyme. He then linked up with his best friend and fellow artist Christian, a.k.a.. Dub-C and they had began to freestyle as well as recreate songs while hanging together. Never did they think to take hip-hop so seriously because of the disapproval they got from their mothers. But, you can never say never and Young Tex later moved to Atlanta due to an unfit environment, where he attended Sprayberry High School amd went under the name of "Texas". He ended up meeting Nate Smith & Truf a.k.a. Benji Burns. Nate had heard Tex playing the keyboard one day in class and invited Tex to the studio he and Munchini operated. After recording in the booth with Truf on the single "Still I Stand", Tex showcased his musical talent to Munchini. Inspired by a song Truf had created entitled "Do You," Tex started to take hip-hop as a lifestyle seriously. He was, and still is an avid Ludacris fan. He grew discouraged at the thought of pursuing hip-hop because many people told him that he favored Ludacris and was hesitant at being called a "wannabe". It was Benji Burns that pulled Tex aside & told him "Do YOU'. Tex took it and ran with it, and has not dropped the ball since. |
